Subair Kunju Foundation – Subair Kunju foundation is a Trivandrum-based (Kerala, India) charitable trust formed in memory of late Mr. M Subair Kunju (1931-2000) by his family members on the day of his first death ANNIVERSARY, 17th June 2001.

Subair Kunju foundation is a Trivandrum-based (Kerala, India) charitable trust formed in memory of late Mr. M Subair Kunju (1931-2000) by his family members on the day of his first death ANNIVERSARY, 17^th June 2001. With the initiative of the trustees, A ‘Subair kunju Memorial Committee’ (SMC) was formed on the same day. Relatives and family friends of Subair Kunju, local community leaders, prominent personalities from his native place and interested persons from different fields are included in the committee. The memorial committee is supporting the foundation in all its efforts to continue the social services rendered by Mr. Subair Kunju.

Mr. Subair Kunju born in Azhicode, near Trivandrum, Kerala was a full time dedicated social worker helping others especially the under privileged in their problems. He is often called as the historian of his native place and worked for the overall development of his native place throughout his life. His social commitment and humanitarian work irrespective of caste, religion, politics and social status is ever remembered.

The Foundation has been registered as a public charitable trust since August 2019 and has been has governed by a board of trustees. Mrs. Khadeeja Beevi, the wife of Late Subair Kunju was the lifetime patron till her sad demise on 3^rd Feb 2020. Their only son, Dr. Abdul Azeez, is the Chairman and his wife, Mrs. Farsana P K is the Vice Chairman. There are also associate trust members assigned for a period of 3 years as per the terms and conditions of the trust deed. The foundation has been functioning as a non-communal trust and as a secular organization from the very beginning and is committed to work for patriotism, communal harmony and national integrity.

We are conducting various community care services like free medical camps, health related awareness classes, publishing and distributing books/leaflets on various diseases, helping the students from the poorest people of his native place. In the year 2003, we extended our activity to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. We have a record of various humanitarian activities in the Kingdom especially targeting the expatriate community.

Our current leading activity, the Riyadh Initiative against Substance Abuse (RISA) campaign started in KSA in the year 2012. The RISA activity got official recognitions from the National Committee for Narcotics Control, KSA in March 2013. To begin with a dedicated 17 member team in Riyadh, RISA could extend our volunteer team to various provinces in the Kingdom, other Middle-East countries as well as in India. As on Feb 2024, we have the credit of conducting more than 100 awareness programs.

Our vision is to function as ideal charitable trust delivering dedicated community health care services through various public health activities, and by establishing health care institutions with due importance to preventive health care and chronic disease screening facility

Mission

To provide education and volunteer training for community-based public health awareness activities, formation of various volunteer forums for specific causes such as substance abuse, prevention and control of communicable and non-communicable diseases, environmental health, energy conservation, maternal and child health and to establish preventive, promotive, curative, rehabilitative health care institutions.
